The China Charity Award, the highest level of charity award of the Chinese government issued by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, was established in 2005. The 10th “China Charity Award” has awarded 28 charity models, 49 charity programs, 37 donation enterprises and 17 individuals. The object of commendation is the model of unselfish giving, the professional and efficient charitable programs, and caring individuals. Their actions of kindness and benevolence inherit the traditional virtue of the Chinese Nation’s charity and culture, and play an exemplary and leading role in creating a charity atmosphere, gathering charity resources and promoting the healthy development of charity, making remarkable contributions and worthy of learning by the whole society.

Children in the Happy Home for Children

In order to implement the spirit of the Central Committee of the Party and explore the effective mode of caring for left-behind children in rural communicaties, in 2014, the All China Women Federation and the China Children and Teenagers’ Fund launched the “Happy Home for Children” public welfare program for the township and village communities where left-behind children are concentrated.

Happy Home for Children gives full play to the role of the platform of love, cooperate with local government, volunteers of women federation to carry out the guidance for family education, children safety protection knowledge training, left-behind children care activities such as counseling and consulting, as well as local authorities to launc, enterprise, school cadre staff teacher to be “Love Mom” and “Love Dad”, and poor left-behind children to carry out the “One to One” support, continuous care left-behind children’s physical and mental health. “Happy Home for Children” is open regularly, where children can read, draw and play badminton after school and on weekends. Managers also organize left-behind children to communicate with their parents who are working in other cities through the parent-child hotline and video regularly.

At present, 1,042 “Happy Home for Children” have been donated and built in 30 provinces, districts, municipalities and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.

The selection of the “China Charity Award” was officially launched on September 1, 2017.
