Dongxiang County Petrochemical Middle School in Gansu province held a new semester opening ceremony on the campus on February 8.
Huang Xiaowei, secretary of the leading Party members' group and vice-president and first member of the secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), sent her message to the students for the new semester by video.
Ma Yongsheng, chairman and secretary of the leading Party members' group of Sinopec and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, gave the first lesson to the students.
Huang said Dongxiang has won the battle against poverty and shows vitality on the new journey of rural revitalization. She therefore hoped that the students can bear in mind the instructions of the Party and state leaders, uphold patriotism and strive to become the backbone of their hometown’s high-quality development. She encouraged the students to forge ahead and enhance their ability to serve the motherland.
She also hoped that all sectors of society will support children's growth through providing them with guidance, protecting their rights and interests, and safeguarding their dreams.
Ma used his own experience to encourage students to cherish time, adhere to their ideals, and make their contributions to their hometown and society.
Huang's message and Ma's lecture will be broadcast at “Spring Bud Power Stations” across the country.
Li Gang, vice-governor of Gansu province, attended the event and leaders at the meeting issued grants for the Spring Bud girls.
The first "Spring Bud Power Station" was built by the China Children and Teenagers' Fund and Sinopec in Dongxiang County Petrochemical Middle School in July 2022. The project plans to build 100 "Spring Bud Power Stations" across the country, which will benefit about 200,000 girls and families.
