The charity education project of the Bailie Spring Bud Program launched its 20th anniversary commemorative activities on June 8 at Beijing Bailie University (BBU), one of the earliest private universities in China.

With the help of the All-China Women's Federation and the China Children and Teenagers' Fund (CCTF), the university joined the Spring Bud Project in 2001 to provide financial support to impoverished girls who are both excellent in character and academics.

Huang Mengfu, Honorary Chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce and Honorary President of BBU, emphasized that the college has profound cultural heritage and has insisted on using love, conscience and responsibility to cultivate knowledgeable, skilled and responsible students.

In particular, the college closely focuses on poverty alleviation through education. Thanks to the Bailie Spring Bud Project , it helped impoverished girls to change their destiny and created educational equality between men and women.

According to Huang, US-based global food processor OSI Group opened a Spring Bud Class together with CCTF and BBU in 2018. The corporation has invested one million yuan (US $154,513.61) each year for three consecutive years to support girls in need, paving the way for more than 100 girls to attend school and demonstrating the company's social responsibility.

Huang told the graduates that every Spring Bud girl should "constantly strive for self-improvement, benevolence and beauty" wherever she is, and contribute to social development and progress.

In her speech, Deputy Secretary-General of the CCTF Wang Haijing sent blessings to the graduating students. She said she hopes that after experiencing the hardships of life and feeling the love of the world, they will cherish their school experience even more and will understand the meaning of love and dedication to life.

She encouraged them to be spreaders of love in the new era, sowing the seeds of love, sharing the sunshine of love and conveying the spirit of love.

"I come from a backward village and I know well that only by leaving home and receiving a higher education can I escape poverty and achieve happiness," said Wang Na, a student from the OSI Spring Bud Program, at the graduation ceremony. She spoke about the hardships she faced in school and her indissoluble bond with the Spring Bud Project.

"Nourished by the academy's concept of 'Love Cycle,' I bloom little by little and gradually become what I want to be," she said, "I will always practice Bailie's tradition of 'Love, Conscience and Responsibility' and use unremitting efforts to repay the care of the Party (Communist Party of China) and society."

As an outstanding representative of the first group of Bailie Spring Bud students, Chu Wenjuan expressed her gratitude to the Spring Bud Project and her alma mater. She also shared her secrets for success with younger students who are about to embark on a new journey in life and sent them her blessings.

"The ship of love has no end, and the power of public welfare will not be exhausted," said Wang Pu, Party Secretary of the BBU. Wang added that the college will continue to innovate by drawing on the 20 years of experience of the Bailie Spring Bud Program, and strive to make greater contributions to education.

BBU adheres to its mission of "training for a bright future," its motto of "using both hands and brains to create and analyze," and its original aspiration of running schools to benefit the public and fulfill its social responsibilities.

In the past two decades, six training classes have been held with more than 7 million yuan (US $1.08 million) in funds and donations from society, funding 236 girl students to complete their college education.

The event was also attended by Shen Xin, Director of the American and Australian Affairs Department of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and General Manager of the China Division of OSI Group Wang Hefu, along with BBU consultant Ms. Elizabeth and other school leaders.
