Learning to change destiny, reading to light up dreams ——Ankang Library helps children grow up happily

2020/12/23

The long bookshelves in the library are lined with various reading materials such as "Pinocchio" and "Walking in Shanghai". Two eight or nine-year-old girls look at the comic books in their hands side by side. Two slightly younger children are on the bookshelf. The former lowered her voice and shared the books they selected. The third grade girl Teju Risha quickly put away the homework she just finished, and couldn't wait to flip through the fairy tale book at hand...

This book-scented scene does not appear in the city library, but in a primary school deep in a mountain in the three districts and three states.

There are many left-behind children in Daliang Mountain, and the companionship of books after school has become their biggest wish.

In December 2019, with the loving support of NetEase (Hangzhou) Network Co., Ltd., the China Children and Teenagers' Fund Ankang Library Public Welfare Project donated 16 Ankang libraries and 3,000 to Qinghai, Sichuan, Gansu, and Yunnan. The children's reading gift pack brings a wealth of extracurricular reading materials to the children, giving them the opportunity to wander the sea of books in their spare time, read a group of books, and develop good reading habits.

At the event site, Mr. Yu Yanan, a national senior mental health consultant, gave the children a lively and interesting reading class. Through the experience of caterpillars metamorphosing into butterflies in the story of "Little Wings", with the theme of "growth", guide children to write their dreams on stickers, draw them on notebooks and speak out loud. The children at the scene actively spoke, and the atmosphere was very warm.

For children’s reading, Teacher Yu puts forward the following suggestions: “Students below grade three can look at some picture books to cultivate reading interest; students above grade three are advised to start reading from story books and ask questions during the reading process. You can read it aloud during reading. Reading aloud can cultivate children’s self-confidence. In the future, I hope that children will continue to study hard and realize their dreams through reading."
