Since the launch of the “Children’s Food Safety and Health Protection Action”, the China Children’s and Teenagers’ Fund has always adhered to “child-centered and parent education as the goal” and is committed to integrating resources from all walks of life to jointly contribute to children’s food safety and nutrition and health. In 2020, the “National Children’s Food Safety and Health Protection Action” launched the “Child Food and Health” Children’s Scientific Snacks Care Program with the theme of scientific selection of snacks, aiming to develop the science of snacks for children aged 4-12 and their families. Recognition and selection are the main popular science content, and the main goal is to improve the nutrition and health literacy of children and families.

At the exchange meeting, Zhang Jiguo, a researcher from the Public Nutrition Office of the Institute of Nutrition and Health of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, introduced the outline of the knowledge system of the "Child Food and Health" Children’s Scientific Snacks Care Program, and talked with more than 20 people from food, nutrition and health, and children’s education. Distinguished guests from fields such as, publishing, public welfare, etc. gathered together to have a lively discussion on issues that everyone cares about.

Speaking of parents’ misunderstandings about diet, Li Ning, a nutritionist and associate professor in the Nutrition Department of Peking Union Medical College Hospital, said that it is important to ensure healthy snack choices, but it is also necessary to be careful not to over-correct by worrying too much. To this end, Shen Qun, a professor at the School of Food Science and Nutritional Engineering of China Agricultural University, and Hu Xiaoqi, former director of the Student Nutrition Office of the Institute of Nutrition and Health, China Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, respectively pointed out the necessity of popular science education, especially the development and application for target groups of different ages.
