2018 “Heng’ai Action - Million Families Affection” Public Welfare Activity was Launched in Nanjing

On November 14, 2018 “Heng’ai Action - Million Families Affection” public welfare activity was launched in Nanjing. The activity aimed to care for the children of ethnic families and lonely and disabled children in Xinjiang and promote the communication among ethnic families.

In order to carry out the spirit of the Second Central Xinjiang Work Symposium and implement the important instruction of General Secretary Xi Jinping on “Paying attention to family, family education and family style”, the All-China Women Federation, China Children and Teenagers’ Fund (CCTF) and Hengyuanxiang Group jointly launched the public welfare program of “Heng’ai Action - Million Families Affection” in 2014. The program aims to build a platform of communication, love interaction and friendship connection among families of various ethnic groups by means of organizing families of the vast inland and Xinjiang ethnic minorities to weave and give love sweaters to each other. Over the past four years, the program has donated 270,000 love sweaters to minority children and other orphaned children in Xinjiang.

As of May 2018, the total number of “Heng’ai Action” love sweaters has reached 1,022,755

“Heng’ai Action - Million Families Affection” is the continuation and development of “Heng’ai Action” public welfare program. Since 2005, Hengyuanxiang Group has donated 500,000 tons of wool yarn and nearly 70 million yuan of goods and materials over the past 13 years. In 2018, Hengyuanxiang will donate money and goods no less than 7 million yuan.

As of May 2018, the total number of “Heng’ai Action” love sweaters has reached 1,022,755. At the ceremony of November 14, caring mother Shen Haiping donated the number 1 million sweater to Xinjiang child, which was the significant one. This was not only representing the love of mothers from all the country, but also marking a new starting point of “love”.

Zhu Xisheng, the Secretary-General of CCTF gave a speech

Zhu Xisheng, the Secretary-General of CCTF, said that carrying out the public welfare activity of “Heng’ai Action - Million Families Affection” is a practical action and concrete measures to implement the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on doing a good job in family work and the spirit of the 12th National Congress of Chinese Women. In the meantime, he hopes to work with all participating units to make this activity an effective carrier to enhance national sentiment, and to build a distinctive brand to promote the construction of family civilization and promote national unity.

Chen Zhongwei, general manager of Hengyuanxiang Group, said that since 2005, Hengyuanxiang Group has gathered millions of loving parents from 31 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities and regions of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan to participate in knitting, so that 1.02 million lonely and disabled children, poor children and children in border areas can put on love sweaters.

Heng’ai Action future thinking and outlook round table

During the meeting, the Heng’an Action future thinking and outlook round table has been conducted. The organizer and the Shanghai Women Federation, the All-China Women Federation of Jiangsu province, Women Federation of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Qinghai province, represented respectively a keynote speech. 

This year, “Heng’ai Action” gives love sweaters to poor children in Vietnam and Laos along the “One Belt and One Road” routes, and explores ways to promote the mutual understanding between people of the “One Belt and One Road” countries through folk charity activities.

Representatives from 28 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities and the Women Federation of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, relevant units of the central and state organs, as well as 120 representatives from mainland and Xinjiang aided children, caring mothers and media attended the opening ceremony.
