The children were excited to share their newly learned knowledge of “Food Safety” with their classmates and teachers. This scene came from the launch ceremony of the “National Food Safety Campaign for Children” in Nanjing, Jiangsu.
On October 25, by the guidance of central government and All-Women Federation, China Children and Teenagers’ Fund (CCTF) together with other organizations and companies launched the “National Food Safety Campaign for Children” in Nanjing and lasted for one month.
Zhu Xisheng, the Secretary General of CCTF attended the event, and said that in order to implement the central government’s food safety deployment, assist the government to set up “Social Work of Food Safety Management System”, the “National Food Safety Campaign for Children” program has always been committed to the joint forces from all walks of life, and protect children’s food safety together. He hoped that through this event to further work with relevant units in Nanjing, Jiangsu to help promote the development of food safety popularization education for children in Nanjing, so that more children and families can master food safety knowledge.
Tang Weimin, the Vice President of Jiangsu Children and Youth Welfare Foundation, said that the event in Nanjing is not only an action of love and kindness to care for children and highlight social responsibilities, but also an effective measure to implement the children development plan and the principle of giving priority to children. This is of great significance in promoting children’s physical and mental health, maintaining social stability and crating a harmonious society.
This event in Nanjing was supported by Wal-Mart Foundation. It is reported that in 2018, the Wal-Mart Foundation donated more than 7 million RMB to CCTF for children’s food safety operation fund, and donated over 190 resource kits across the country to carry out 30 experience camps. Among them, 28 primary schools in Jiangsu province will receive children’s food safety school resource kits, including children’s food safety comic books, hands-on learning box, touch-screen interactive all-in-one machine, and series of resources.
Dr. Yan Zhinong, a representative of the Wal-Mart Foundation and the Executive Director of the Wal-Mart Food Safety Cooperation Center, said that since 2016, the Wal-Mart Foundation has provided financial support to CCTF to jointly carry out the “National Food Safety Campaign for Children”. This year the program has made greater progress in terms of content richness, from innovation and scale depth than last year. It is believed that more children and teenagers will learn the latest food safety knowledge through this event, which will make the whole society pay more attention to children’s food safety.
At the event, leaders and guests presented education model certificates and children food safety comic book for 10 primary schools and community representatives in Nanjing and Nantong.
After the launch ceremony, the children food safety mobile experience camp in Nanjing Gaochun District Qiqiao Central Primary School was fully launched. Some children reading comic books of children’s food safety in the service center, some children learning hand washing method at the washing equipment, some children playing monopoly games at th comprehensive experience area, some children calling their friends to use the touch-screen machine together. Among them, the most popular one was the VR glasses at food safety experience area. children can wear VR equipment to experience the food safety knowledge in the process of food production in the virtual kitchen, and learn which kitchen environment can guarantee food safety; while AR equipment taught children about the traceable process of port through AR technology.
He Jiguo, an expert from the National Committee of Experts on Child Food Safety and an associate professor from China Agricultural University, was also invited by the program to teach a special course for children food safety. He used humor and simple way to let children understand food safety knowledge, and let parents know about common mistakes of children food safety and nutrition.
