According to incomplete statistics, nearly 10,000 children under the age of 14 died from traffic accidents every year in China, which is about twice that of Europe and United States. In order to raise safety awareness and prevent children from traffic injuries, the “Protect Children, Safe Childhood” program has been jointly launched by the China Children and Teenagers’ Fund and the Faw-Volkswagen. On July 25, a training and safety class for pregnant women school teachers was successfully held in Xi’an, Shanxi Province.

Nearly a hundred maternal and children health doctors participated in travel safety training

“Protect Children, Safe Childhood” program focusing on pregnant families and families of children aged from 0 to 10 years old, building the education system of traffic safety knowledge for expectant mothers, newborns and children through class and entertainment. In 2018, on the basis of previous years, additional physician lectures will be held. During the lectures, medical staff to understand and grasp the travel safety knowledge of pregnant women and newborns, and to convey the concept of safety to maternal families as a communicator, so as to create a safe and civilized living environment together.

 

Travel safety lectures training by Xi’an Maternal and Child Health System

During the event, officers from the Transportation Department of Shanghai Public Safety Bureau brought special classes on safety knowledge of pregnancy and infant travel. Classes covered pregnant women and children’s travel safety, as well as the importance of children safety seats, to enrich the travel safety knowledge reserve of health-care professions. Nurses also solemnly swear in the training: Take care of women and children, transmission of safety knowledge! They will pass on the concepts of safety to every pregnant mother and infant family in their future work.

Many health care professions say that women play multiple roles in social life, such as staff, wives, daughters... Among them, the title of “mother” is the most sacred. For the healthy growth of children, every mother tries her best to give children 100% care, for fear of harming her children because of her own omissions. Therefore, the travel safety class will be very popular among pregnant mothers and new mothers.
In addition, teachers from the Beijing Youth Safety and Defense Volunteer Service Committee also brought their protection skills and relevant legal knowledge to health care professions, providing care to the “white angels” working in the front-line.

Health care professions from Xi’an learned the key points of guarding against violent injury

The 2018 “Protect Children, Safe Childhood” program has been held in Chengdu, Beijing, Guangzhou, and will be launched in many other cities across the country. Since 2017, the program has covered 15 key cities in China, conducted more than 300 public welfare lectures to deliver travel safety knowledge to pregnant women and children’s families through various activities.
