Charity Caring Event for Vitiligo Patients
In the afternoon of July 6, a special love “confession” was staged in Beijing, attracting many people to participate. A charity event called “Hugging and Showing Love to Vitiligo” initiated by China Children and Teenagers’ Fund was launched in Beijing. This event aims to promote the popularization of Vitiligo disease, so that people will have more understanding and caring, as well as less discrimination and rejection to Vitiligo patients’ group. Thus, a harmonious and caring social atmosphere will be formed.
During the event
During the event, volunteers dressed in the clothes of “Confession Action” distributed leaflets to the public to popularize common knowledge of Vitiligo. The wonderful violin performance and the warm songs lit up people’s enthusiasm for public welfare. In addition, the cute “confessions of love” mascots “Little Green” and the sack doll “Big Green” have attracted more attention.

There were two special volunteers at the event, both of which are Vitiligo patients. With knowing the situation, many passers-by came forward and hugged them. One participant told reporters that he also wanted to give Vitiligo patients some support and encouragement in the form of “cuddling with love”. Some residents said that they did not know about Vitiligo at the beginning and instinctively avoided to the group, but since then they have known more about the disease, and they will give more understanding and care to Vitiligo patients.
Sending blessing together to Vitiligo patients
According to the director of “Confession Action”, publicity and popularization of common knowledge of Vitiligo disease are both long-term processes. The charity event “Hugging and Showing Love to Vitiligo” is a way to promote common knowledge to the whole society, making more people understand and care about Vitiligo patients without discrimination. The preliminary plan of the event is to gradually settle in 100 major cities across the country starting from Beijing.

It is reported that Vitiligo is a skin disease caused by the loss of melanin, which is high incidence in children and adolescents. Although Vitiligo does not have directly threaten to lives, it has seriously impacts to mental health; because of the misunderstanding to a certain extent of Vitiligo in public, it has caused great mental pressure to Vitiligo patients, which affects their confidence of life. China Children and Teenagers’ Fund launched the “Confession Action” on April 10, 2015; by raising funds from the society, it has not only helped children and adolescents with Vitiligo, but also carried out charity publicity, popularization of disease knowledge and psychological assistance to those young patients.
