A food safety forum was held on June 9 in Beijing where the 2018 “National Children's Food Safety Guard Campaign” kicked off.
The event was hosted by the China Children and Teenagers’ Fund (CCTF) and the China Nutrition and Health Food Association, and was organized by Zhongcheng Venture Philanthropy Development and Promotion Center.
Since the “National Children's Food Safety Guard Campaign” was launched in June 2016, the campaign’s first phase work has targeted at young children in the elementary school, having established 79 children’s food safety education bases and 34 community bases in 9 cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenyang, Chengdu and Qingdao.
It has also conducted 85 experiential camp activities, 5 factory visits, and a children's food safety themed painting contest, in addition to distributing more than 64,000 picture books and 10,000 pages of food safety knowledge brochures.
With more than 1,600 volunteers taking part in, the event has covered over 300,000 children and families. In 2018, the second phase of the project plans to diffuse food safety knowledge targeted at 0-3 year old infants and their parents.
Zhu Xisheng, secretary general of the CCTF gave a speech at the forum, saying that the safety of food is directly related to the healthy growth of children and adolescents. The “National Children's Food Safety Guard Campaign” that was launched in 2016 has achieved good societal results.
Ensuring food safety is the common responsibility of the whole society, said Bian Zhenjia, president of China Nutrition and Health Food Association. Apart from drawing children’s attention to food safety, communities, schools, food companies and other sectors of society need to be mobilized to share the concern and solve food safety problems in a comprehensive way.
Shenzhen Lamabang Technology Co., Ltd. donated 3 million yuan to the CCTF for diffusion of food safety knowledge for infants and children.
Chinese celebrities Zhou Yiwei, Zhu Dan, and musician Sun Nan are appointed as love ambassador of the “National Safeguarding Action for Children's Food Safety”.
