The China Children and Teenagers’ Fund (CCTF) and the Tencent Foundation held the launching ceremony of the "New Growth Program" on May 23, in Beijing. The Investigation Report on the Status Quo of Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture was released during the ceremony.
Zhao Donghua, member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, former vice chairman of the All-China Women's Federation and secretary of the Secretariat, and deputy chairman of the CCTF attended the event and issued certificates for the first groups of "New Growth Program Charity Cooperation Schools."
Different from the education poverty alleviation projects featuring material aid and hardware improvement, the “New Growth Program” focuses on cultivation of children’s humanities, wisdom development, and ability training through planned and targeted inquiry-based learning activities. This move hopes to improve the educational environment in ethnic areas, poverty-stricken areas, and underdeveloped areas in China’s central and western regions.

The research was conducted by Beijing Normal University through questionnaires, interviews, and field research in 29 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) from May 2017 to April 2018.
