Swift Plan Project Kicks Off in Beijing

Beijing Swift is one of the most popular summer birds in Beijing. It is loved by the general public. Every year from the end of July to the beginning of August, it flies more than ten million miles to South Africa. After the vernal equinox the next year, it returns to Beijing to reproduce and multiply. The annual migration distance of swifts exceeds three million kilometers. Beijing swifts are mostly nested in tall buildings such as city towers, ancient towers, altars, palaces, and garden pavilions, and Zhengyangmen is one of the main habitats of Beijing Swift.

A cultural activity  was held  in Beijing on May 18, when the China Children and Teenagers’ Fund (CCTF) and museums from Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei Province signed the "Swift Plan" initiative. Based on the plan, these museums will use their cultural resources to collect donations from enterprises for poverty alleviation.

The project was organized by the Beijing Zhengyangmen Management Office, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Museum Collaborative Development Promotion Office, and the CCTF.
