The China Children and Teenagers’ Fund (CCTF) and D-Cal Company launched a large-scale charity project that is to promote Chinese children’s height increase, on April 22 in Beijing. Through various measures, such as experience activities, handing out handbooks, and holding public lectures, the project will help tens millions of Chinese children know about height and height increase in a scientific way.
More than 500 families from Beijing and surrounding areas participated in the event where many children had height measurements and got scientific height guidance advice from experts.
D-Cal donated one million yuan ($158,300) to the CCTF for further efforts to pay special attention to children height development.
The CCTF conducted a survey report on the current situation of Chinese children's height management with D-Cal based on nearly 10,000 parents across China in 2017, showing that over 50 percent of children did not reach the genetic height, and nearly 80 percent of children were shorter than what their parents expected. In response to the problems found in the survey, the CCTF and the China Center for Disease Control and Prevention's Maternal and Child Health Center compiled the "Guide to Height Management" to provide parents with guidance and help increase children’s height.
The project will target preschool children and will promote the correct concept of height management for children and scientific height management in more than 10 cities nationwide, including Guangzhou, Hefei, and Zhengzhou. By collaborating with children's health institutions and kindergartens, pharmacies, it is expected to cover more than 1,000 urban communities, and provide height-enhancing services for Chinese families.
