The “National Safeguarding Action for Children's Food Safety” 2018 annual expert workshop was held on April 13th. The safeguarding action is a public welfare activity to popularize food safety knowledge for children and help raise children’s food safety awareness.
The workshop was organized by the China Children and Teenagers’ Fund (CCTF), the China Nutrition and Health Food Association, and Zhongcheng Venture Philanthropy Development and Promotion Center, under the guidance of the National Food Safety Commission Office and the All-China Women’s Federation.
Zhu Xisheng, secretary-general of the CCTF, said at the event that children’s food safety is a complex work. Food-related knowledge keeps expanding and being updated as science continues to develop. This has posed many new challenges children's food science education is facing with.
He hopes the CCTF to further increase communication and cooperation with experts and enterprises, and to promote the construction of a "Food Safety Social Governance System" based on the practice of “Children's Food Safety Safeguard Action”.
Since its launch in June 2016, the “National Safeguarding Action for Children's Food Safety” has held a wide range of activities in nine cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Qingdao, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Fuzhou, Kunming, Tianjin and Shenyang, on the theme of children’s food safety and food education. These activities have benefited more than 300,000 people through 85 experience camps, a nationwide painting contest, giving comic books to more than 64,000 children, and more.
