Chinese People’s Armed Police makes continuous efforts in helping impoverished children

Chinese People’s Armed Police donated RMB2 million to help improve education development in impoverished ethnic group areas and poverty-stricken areas in Gansu Province, Northwest China, on Nov 22, at an activity held in a primary school in Jiuquan City’s Guazhou County.

The activity is part of efforts that Chinese People’s Armed Police and China Children and Teenagers’ Fund (CCTF) have made to alleviate poverty. The armed police teams up with the CCTF’s Spring Bud Project, a charity program mobilizing social forces to help dropout girls return to school and to improve teaching conditions in poverty-stricken areas.

Lin Qing, vice-director of political work department of the armed police force, said in 2017, the Party Committee of the Chinese People’s Armed Police has decided to raise RMB5.66 million to sponsor the Spring Bud girls, improve school condition, and support care for left-behind children.

During the activity, local impoverished students were given scholarship and “Hello Kid” packages.

The armed police have donated RMB58.43 million to the Spring Bud project since 1997, helping construct 13 Spring Bud Hope Schools, 52 Children’s Happy Home, and 12 multimedia classrooms and laboratories. In addition, the armed police helped more than 11,000 spring bud girls return to school, provided help for 20,000 infants to improve anemia and nutrition condition, and sent out 5,000 Hello Kid packages to impoverished children.
