On the return day of “9.9 Charity Day”, the Tencent Charity team put forward many ideas about the future of the online charity event, in which Tencent Charity and its partners facilitated Internet users to donate to a range of charitable initiatives on or around September 9, via leveraging Tencent’s platforms and payment services. Although the comprehensive review of this year’s “9.9 Charity Day” event has also marked the successful end of the event, the China Children and Teenagers’ Fund (CCTF) is still thinking about it.
Tencent and its partners, including charity organizations like the CCTF, social organizations, and corporations, promoted the participation of the public in charity throughout this year’s 9.9 Charity Day event, attracting donation from 147 countries and involvement of more than 300 Chinese cities, and generating 180 million person-times of interaction. We are feeling very excited about these data as we see, via Tencent Charity platform, Tencent’s mobile and desktop donation site, the prospects social organizations and the society as a whole work together to solve social problems effectively.
To build an effective and sustainable support platform for charity across China has been discussed for years. Based on the past 7-year partnership between the CCTF and Tencent as well as more than 6,000 charity projects Tencent Charity has participated in, we found that the company’s 9.9 Charity Day event has been growing into such a platform.
To find an effective solution to social problems depends on the full efforts a platform made in the charity ecological construction. Tencent has been dedicated to it for years. The hard work of Tencent and numerous social organizations has laid a foundation for working out a solution to social problems; Tencent’s Internet products, such as QQ, WeChat, and mobile terminal payment used by hundreds of millions of people, make it possible for social organizations to call for everyone to participate in charity and make innovation in charity. Tencent’s vision of "to connect everything" allows charity project designers and executive teams to carry out extensive innovation in social services and children charity, while enabling people in need to receive help from the Internet from far and wide.
We are happy to see the great possibility of the 9.9 Charity Day event to become a sustainable support platform for charity as the event has brought about 180 million person time of interaction and involvement of 300 cities. The CCTF and other organizations played an active part in it. With the support of Tencent, more than 4,000 commercial and social organizations worked on the publicity of charity activities. The advertisement promotion was carried out in more than 10 city public hubs, and a publicity campaign of CCTF and Tencent Charity saw 110 million offline exposure. Entrepreneurs and social organizations of various kinds also made great efforts to the promotion of charity projects and their fund-raising activities. Extensive and wide communication made charity activities become hot spot topics of the society and encourage everyone to participate in.
We see that Tencent Charity is working with other partners to create an effective and sustainable future. The formation of various social problems such as health, education and development in specific communities or specific groups of people is contingent and unpredictable, but it is inevitable for a society as a whole. In addition, to solve these problems is subject to the changing environment, which poses challenges to both charity projects and the support platform.
Charity activities ask for continuous efforts of commercial and social partners through guidance and arrangement of a support platform, in order to achieve expansion and benefits. Our goal of sustainability and effectiveness can be achieved as long as charity teams up with partners of all works of life.
Through this year’s “9.9 Charity Day” event, we have noticed that Tencent Charity is working with us to keep optimizing the system of charity participation of the whole society, which will facilitate China's charity cause to obtain new drive and achieve restructuring.
