The National Children Food Safety Action City Tour kicks off in Shenyang City, Northeast China’s Liaoning Province, on Nov. 2, in a bid to ensure food safety for children and help them know more about food safety.
The event was organized by China Children and Teenagers’ Fund (CCTF), China Nutrition and Health Food Association, and China Children Center, under the guidance of the Food Safety Committee Office of the State Council of China and All-China Women’s Federation.
Xu Xiaoguang, director of project fund-raising department of the CCTF, said at the launching ceremony that the food safety project has made achievements and it aims to safeguard food safety for children and teenagers by giving full play to the joint forces of the CCTF, the nutrition association, media, and enterprises.
In line with the efforts of the Shenyang municipal government to develop Shenyang into a national food safety demonstration city, the event has gained support from many governmental departments, including the Shenyang Food and Drug Administration and Shenyang Education Bureau.
Orion Food Co., Ltd. donated RMB1.4 million yuan to the CCTF for the event in Shenyang at the ceremony. “Safety is the top priority in the food industry, and safeguarding food safety for children is to protect our future and hope,” said Zhang Xiaoyan, PR director of Orion Food, adding that food enterprises need to make best use of their specialty to help ensure food safety.
More than 8,000 comic books about children food safety were given to children of six schools in Shenyang after the ceremony. The event also included experience activities and lectures for children.
