China Children Insurance Foundation (CCIF) was launched by CCTF with support from Ministry of Civil Affairs, All-China Women’s Federation, and China Insurance Regulatory Commission. This foundation is expected to be a supplementary force to support China’s social welfare and healthcare system. It combines insurance and charity in order to make available financial aids and relief to the children and their families struck by critical illnesses and severe injuries.

In the past few months, CCIF has sent insurance cards to more than 60,000 children in the earthquake disaster areas of Sichuan, Shanxi and Gansu. With this plan, each RMB 20 Yuan, or about $3 USD, of donation would provide RMB 100,000 Yuan (~$15K USD) of insurance protection for a child for one year against critical illnesses and injuries, including leukaemia, acute renal failure (uraemia), severe burns and double/single permanent total blindness. The insured children can apply for claims once they are diagnosed. Insurance pay-out will help finance their medical treatment, rebuild their dignity and ensure future opportunities for these children.

China Children Insurance Foundation was highly regarded by the Ministry of Civil Affairs and was documented in governmental reports. The CCTV prime time news has also broadcasted the founding of CCIF to the whole country. As a next step, CCIF will subsidize more than 600K children from Hebei Province and many more in other regions across China by the end of 2009. And we hope to cover all the Children in China in a reasonable timeframe.
