ACWF President Visits Weak-sighted Children

2010/11/25

Vice-chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and President of the All-China Women's Federation Chen Zhili visited on Friday in Beijing weak-sighted children from impoverished families who are receiving treatment sponsored by China Children and Teenagers' Fund (CCTF).

The CCTF Safe and Health Project set up a special fund in 2002 to aid needy amblyopia patients.

Chen, also president of the CCTF, presented bags to the children to encourage them to be confident in their recovery and return to school soon.

Chen Zhili said that about three percent of children under 15 suffer amblyopia and may become blind without proper treatment. She called for more social support to the medical aid programs of the Safe and Health Project.
