Ceremony Marks CCTF’s 30th Anniversary

The ceremony marking the 30th anniversary of the founding of the China Children and Teenager's Fund (CCTF) was held at the Great Hall of the People on July 15 in Beijing.

Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the 11th National People's Congress , President of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) and President of the CCTF Chen Zhili attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.

Chen said that the CCTF has accumulated valuable experience on aiding impoverished and disadvantaged children in the 30-year history and extensively mobilized social forces to participate in China's children charity cause.

She expressed hope that the CCTF would further develop modern philanthropic concepts and insist on transparent operation of charitable work to innovate children’s  charity projects and improve the service platform for needy groups.

Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation and Vice President of the CCTF Fan Jiying presented a report at the meeting reviewing and summarizing the CCTF's work and achievements in the past 30 years.

129 organizations and 121 individuals were awarded at the ceremony for their efforts and contributions to the CCTF's charity work .

The China Children and Teenager's Fund, founded in July 1981, is China's first charitable foundation. In the past 30 years the Fund has collected 1.92 billion yuan (US$295 million) from all social segments and its public charity projects and programs, such as the Spring Bud Program and the Safe and Healthy Growth Project, have helped 12 million children across the country.

Ahead of this year's June 1 International Children's Day it also launched a new initiative to eliminate anemia among infants and children.
