The launch of the 2011 Hengai Action in aid of orphans and disabled children took place last Friday.  The China Children and Teenagers' Fund, Hengyuanxiang Group, Tianjin Women's Federation, Tianjin Children and Teenagers' Fund, Tianjin Council for the Promotion of Construction in the Old Revolutionary Areas and Jinwan Media Group are co-organizers of the campaign. Director-General of Tianjin Women and Children's Foundation Wang Hongjiang, Vice-President of Tianjin Women's Federation Cheng Shumei, leaders of Tianjin Bureau of Civil Affairs, and Tianjin Council for the Promotion of Construction in the Old Revolutionary Areas attended the launch ceremony. 

The Hengai Action, established in 2005, appealed to the public through the medium of women's federations and foundations in various regions, to knit sweaters for disabled children and orphans. More than 600,000 children have received home-knitted sweaters from loving parents in 30 or more provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions. Tianjin Women and Children's Foundation has collected around 200,000 yuan ($31,480) and donated about 20,000 sweaters to 20,000 children. 

The Hengyuanxiang Group has committed to a donation of 500 kilograms of wool this year. The focus of Tianjin Women's Federation and the Tianjin Women and Children's Foundation this year is on helping disabled children and orphans in Tianjin, especially in its old revolutionary areas.

There are 1,163 orphans and 5,174 disabled children below the age of 14 living in Tianjin, among whom97 orphans and 461 disabled children are resident in the old revolutionary area of Ji County.
