On behalf of its enterprises and factories in China, Sony (China) donated 1.75 million yuan (US$ 285,250) and materials worth 250,000 yuan (US$ 40,711.3) to the quake-hit Ya’an city in southwest China’s Sichuan Province via the China Children and Teenagers’ Foundation (CCTF) on May 2, 2013. The donations will be used for the construction of a library and classroom to improve students’ education environment there.

Sony (China) has contributed to children’s philanthropy for many years and was awarded “China Children's Charity Award -- Outstanding Contributions" by CCTF in 2012.
