The 2012 Heng'ai Action to provide orphans and disabled children with knitted sweaters was launched on September 12, 2012, inChangchun, capital city of northeastChina'sJilinProvince. The launch attracted over 300 representatives from the China Children and Teenagers Fund (CCTF), Hengyuanxiang Group, Jilin Women's Federation, related government departments and the media.

The Heng'ai Action was established in2005 inJilinto appeal to the public through the medium of women's federations and foundations in various regions, to knit sweaters for disabled children and disadvantaged orphans. By June 2012, more than 650,000 children had received sweaters from benefactors in 30 or more provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions.

As the activity sponsor, the Hengyuanxiang Group, one ofChina's top woollen consumables companies, expressed its appreciation to all those involved and promised that the company will continue providing sustained support for the charity program.

Members of the Jilin Loving Knitting Group, which was established along with the Heng'ai Action, also attended the launch ceremony. Most of the members are retired senior citizens who have knitted sweaters for children across the country, including the survivors of the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake in southwestChina'sSichuanProvinceand the 2010 Yushu earthquake in westChina'sQinghaiProvince.

Having heard the news of the launch ceremony this year, 30 members of the knitting group made about 100 sweaters for the children.

Also in attendance at the launch ceremony were Vice President and Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) and CCTF Vice President Zhao Donghua, Member of the Standing Committee and Secretary-general of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee Fang Li, CCTF Secretary General Chen Xiaoxia, President of Jilin Women's Federation Guan Dewei and General Manager of the Hengyuanxiang Group Chen Zhongwei.
