CCTF Launches Preschool Education Activity in Henan

In conjunction with International Children's Day, the China Children and Teenagers' Foundation (CCTF) and Pingdingshan People's Government launched the 'Caring Preschool Education in Pingdingshan' Welfare Activity in Pingmei Kindergarten of Pingdingshan City, central China's Henan Province, on May 31, 2013.

CCTF Secretary General Chen Xiaoxia, Secretary of Pingdingshan Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China Chen Jiansheng, Director of Pingdingshan Municipal People's Congress Li Ping, Vice-mayor and Director of Pingdingshan Working Committee for Women and Children Zheng Maojie, and President of Pingdingshan Council for the Promotion of Construction in the Old Revolutionary Areas Pei Jianzhong attended the activity, as did honored guests from enterprises and public institutions, and representatives of left-behind children. President of Pingdingshan Women's Federation Liang Liping presided over the activity.

"The activity aims to contribute towards the development of preschool education,"said Chen Xiaoxia.

"CCTF has selected Pingdingshan as the first site of the 'Caring Preschool Education' activity, which is a show of support for us. We will not let them down," said Zheng Maojie.

"As an activity organizer, the Pingdingshan Council for the Promotion of Construction in the Old Revolutionary Areas has full confidence that the activity will run smoothly," said Pei Jianzhong.

The activity will be supported by the Pingdingshan Council for the Promotion of Construction in the Old Revolutionary Areas and Pingdingshan Municipal Poverty Alleviation Association. It aims to provide a safe and appropriate education environment for preschool children in rural areas.

The Beijing Pingdingshan Chamber of Commerce donated funds and materials worth 2.60 million yuan (US$ 0.424 million) via the CCTF for the construction of classrooms and reading rooms.
