In conjunction with International Children's Day, Vice Chairperson of the NPC Standing Committee and President of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) Shen Yueyue visited left-behind children in northwest China's Gansu Province on May 22, 2013.
In Sancha Village in Dingxi City, Shen chatted with the children, admired their drawings, and presented gifts of school supplies to them. She also encouraged them to study hard and create a better future for their hometown.
Shen also visited a kindergarten and presented toys to the children there and delivered nutritional packages to the infants between 6 to 36 months of age. The packages were distributed under the Action to Eliminate Infant Anemia supported by the central special lottery public welfare fund.
The next day, Shen visited the children at the Child Care Center of Gansu Women's Federation.
The Action to Eliminate Infant Anemia was jointly launched by the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), China's Ministry of Health and China Children and Teenagers' Foundation (CCTF) in 2011, aiming to reduce infant anemia by providing nutritional packages to infants in poverty-stricken areas and launching health education among parents.
