The year 2014 marked the 25th anniversary of the implementation of the Spring Bud Project,launched by the China Children and Teenagers'Fund(CCTF).Peng Liyuan,wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping and UNESCO Special Envoy for the Advancement of Girls'and Women's Education,recently received the title of Special Envoy for Spring Bud Project to Promote Girls'Education,granted by the All-China Women's Federation(ACWF)and the CCTF.Peng said she would do her best to help more children,especially girls,to receive a good education.
During the past 25 years,various actions have been carried out under the Spring Bud Project to promote girls’education and development,to help graduated students find employment,to care for children whose parents work away from their hometowns,and to protect girls'safety and health.The project has raised nearly 1.5 billion yuan(US$244 million)in donations,and it has benefited more than 3 million girls across the country,especially those in the western and/or ethnic minority regions.The Spring Bud Project has become one of the most successful and influential projects by China's non-governmental and non-profit organizations aimed at promoting girls'education and development.
