The China Children and Teenagers' Foundation (CCTF) and Tsinghua University wrapped up the first session of positive developmental psychology training in Beijing on August 30.
Thirty trainees from women's federations in eight provinces, municipalities and regions received graduation certificates.
The training program aims to equip staff of women's federations in the field of children's issues with developmental psychology, and promote children's mental health.
CCTF has been raising funds for this program and supporting the research, promotion and practice of Tsinghua University's Positive Developmental Psychology Center, which was officially launched that same day.
CCTF will establish a cooperative relationship with Tsinghua University's School of Social Sciences to jointly promote the application of positive developmental psychology and provide psychological aid to communities, organizations and families. Meanwhile, CCTF will organize free lectures on psychology, and study and review child psychological intervention plans of communities and families.
The program is expected to promote the development of psychology, improve the mental health of the entire population and the well-being of Chinese children and women.
CCTF Secretary-General Chen Xiaoxia said that it was the whole of society's responsibility to care about only-children, children of single-parent families, and especially left-behind children, whose rural migrant worker parents have left in their rural hometowns or taken them to live near their workplaces in cities.
Chen hopes the trainees apply what they have learned in the past few days to practice, and help children develop healthy, rounded, happy and positive mindsets with professional methods.
