President of the Hainan Women's Federation and Chairperson of the Hainan Children Welfare Association Liu Jin, alongside domestic Olympic Badminton Champion Zhang Jun and Coach of China's National Badminton Team Xie Zhongbo, gave out warm clothes, books and other gifts to three girls from a "Spring Bud Class" at the Longguang Elementary School in Lingshui County, south China's Hainan Province, on February 12, 2015.
The concerned beneficiaries included Huang Keke, Wang Ying and Li Jiajia, who had respectively been under assistance from Liu, Zhang and Xie for some time.
During their gathering, Zhang and Xie told both Wang and Li they would pay them visits when they come here for badminton training, and encouraged them to study hard.
Meanwhile, Liu represented the Hainan Women's Federation and the Hainan Children Welfare Association to present another 20 local girls with warm garments and other items as gifts for the upcoming Spring Festival, or traditional Chinese New Year, this February.
The Spring Bud Project was launched by the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) and the China Children and Teenagers' Fund (CCTF) in 1989 to help girl dropouts return to school across the nation. So far, thousands of underprivileged girls in Hainan have benefited from the charitable program over several decades.
