The Henan Women's Federation held a ceremony in Zhengzhou, capital city of central China's Henan Province, on January 29, 2015 to announce officially its donating 3,000 sweaters to underprivileged children from Hami Prefecture, in northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, as part of the "Heng'ai Action" charity campaign.

In response to President Xi Jinping's keynote speech at the Second National Working Conference on Guidance of Other Provinces' Efforts to Help Social and Economic Development in Xinjiang, held in May 2014 in Beijing, and corresponding instructions from the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), the Henan Women's Federation has greatly advanced the "Heng'ai Action" project as part of its efforts to help Xinjiang's development.

The Henan Women's Federation has also organized charity events bringing local women's federations and charity-minded residents together to produce or donate warm sweaters and other clothing items to help poverty-stricken children across Xinjiang protect against the harsh cold of winter and has successfully collected thousands of articles of clothing for children over past several months.

Meanwhile, local celebrities, warm-hearted individuals and former revolutionary soldiers have shown their enthusiastic support for the Henan Women's Federation campaign by providing their own share of sweaters and other warm clothing items.

An official from the Henan Women's Federation introduced at the ceremony that collected sweaters would be delivered promptly to the hands of underprivileged children in Hami and added that more events of similar nature are expected to be rolled out later this year.

Established by the China Children's and Teenagers' Fund (CCTF) and the Hengyuanxiang Group in 2005, the "Heng'ai Action" was started as a public knitting campaign to provide warm winter clothing for impoverished children across China, many of whom are forced to face the long, cold winter wearing but light summer clothing.
