A ceremony was held by the Chongqing Women's Federation at the Fuxing Elementary School in Chengkou County, southwest China's Chongqing City, on the morning of January 13, 2015 to distribute sweaters, stationery and other items to underprivileged teenage students as part of the Heng'ai Action program.
During the ceremony, Vice President of the Chongqing Women's Federation Zhang Shuyu and other charity-minded women presented warm clothes and schooling items to 50 left-behind students, and called for more people and social organizations to engage themselves in similar activities in the future.
Meanwhile, several physically disabled children were invited to demonstrate their artistic talent, and representatives from the Charity-minded Women Alliance signed up to provide target children with needed assistance.
Further, members of the local family instruction association held lectures for attending parents about how to keep children healthy and communicate effectively with them in their social circumstances.
After the distribution ceremony, Zhang talked with representative children about their lives and encouraged them to study hard at schooling. She also inspected the operations of kindergartens and children's activity centers.
Similar activities will be organized in the coming weeks to benefit other local children and help them enjoy the upcoming Spring Festival and traditional Chinese Lunar New Year in February.
Jointly sponsored by the China Children and Teenagers' Fund (CCTF) and the Hengyuanxiang Group, one of China's top woolen consumables companies, Heng'ai Action was established in 2005 in northeast China's Jilin Province to appeal to the public via women's federations and foundations in various regions, to knit sweaters for disabled children and disadvantaged orphans.
