The Hainan Women's Federation made a donation of 500 sweaters to underprivileged children from Altay Prefecture, in northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, at a distribution ceremony held in Haikou, capital city of south China's Hainan Province, on March 2, 2015.
The latest charitable effort was part of Hainan's 2nd Heng'ai Action charity campaign, which was jointly launched by the Hainan Women's Federation, the Hengyuanxiang Group and other local government departments at a secondary school in the city of Wenchang on January 9, 2015. The campaign aimed to collect warm garments as donations would be sent to poverty-stricken children in Hainan and Xinjiang.
All of the collected warm clothing had been made by charity-minded women along with other individuals, using raw materials donated from the Hengyuanxiang Group.

Meanwhile, another 500 collected sweaters would also be sent promptly to the hands of recipient children in Hainan.
Co-sponsored by the China Children and Teenagers' Fund (CCTF) and the Hengyuanxiang Group in 2005, the Heng'ai Action campaign is designed to appeal — through the medium of women's federations and foundations in various regions — to the public to knit sweaters for disabled children and orphans. So far, more than 600,000 children have received home-knitted sweaters from loving parents in many provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions across the nation.
