As part of the "Spring Bud Project" charity campaign, the Henan Hongjian Construction Group Co., Ltd. has made a donation of 500,000 yuan (U.S. $80,650) to finance the construction of 11 classrooms and has extended financial assistance to 246 underprivileged students to help them with their academic studies. The donations were presented at a ceremony jointly held by the Hainan Women's Federation, the China Children and Teenagers' Fund (CCTF), and, of course, the charity-minded enterprise itself at the Yemao Elementary School in the Puqian Township of Wenchang, a city of south China's Hainan Province, on April 20, 2015.
Launched by the CCTF under the assistance from the public in 1989, the charity campaign aims to help girls across the entire nation who have dropped out of school to return to their studies. Hainan is no exception in this case.
So far, more than 10,000 local poverty-stricken girls from all walks of life have received assistance from the charity campaign and returned to school.
In attendance at the donation ceremony were Chen Xiaoxia, secretary general of the CCTF; Li Youwu, inspector from the Hainan Women's Federation; and Liu Gang, chairperson of the Henan Hongjian Construction Group.
