A brand-new "Safety Experience Classroom" project was officially completed at the Henan Women and Children's Activity Center in Zhengzhou, capital city of central China's Henan Province, on May 23.
Jointly established by the Henan Women's Federation and the China Children and Teenagers' Fund (CCTF), the charity project aimed to provide target students and their teachers with intensive training on how to protect themselves and rescue others from danger in the event of an earthquake or other emergency situations.
"The safety of children is of great significance to their healthy growth, the happiness of families concerned, as well as social stability and harmony. Therefore, better protection of children's safety requires that the whole public contribute their efforts", Vice-President of the Henan Women's Federation Fan Ping said at the completion ceremony.
She added that the charity project was the best gift possible for children on International Children's Day (June 1) and would further promote the implementation of education on how to help children involved secure their personal safety in an emergency.
After the completion ceremony, local kids were invited to walk into the newly completed classroom and talk to experts about how best to escape to safety when accidents or dangers occur during daily life. More specially, they were lectured on how to deal with traffic accidents and the outbreak of fire, produce simple stretchers, and move the wounded in emergencies.
According to the Henan Women's Federation, the lecture on children's safety will be introduced into more local schools to benefit students there in the coming months.
