China Children and Teenagers' Foundation (CCTF) sponsored a charity party in Beijing on July 28 to celebrate the launch of the 2015 China Children's Charity Day.
Song Xiuyan, vice-president and first member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) attended the event.
Along with other leaders, Song, who is also president of the CCTF, accepted nearly 120 million yuan (U.S. $19.3 million) on behalf of the fund, donated by different organizations and individuals.
Zhu Xisheng, deputy secretary-general of the fund released the "Report on the Development of Post-2015 and 2016 Charity Projects of the CCTF". The report analyzes the opportunities and serious challenges faced by children in China, and states the development direction of the key charity projects in the upcoming year.
The fund will focus on children's education, children's health and emergency relief; child protection and rights protection of "left-behind" (those whose parents have left them at home to seek work in the cities) and migrant children as well as other special groups; further build public service platforms for cooperation; and mobilize social charitable resources for needy kids.
The attendees also included Chen Xiurong, member of Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, deputy director of the NPC Internal Judicial Affairs Committee, and vice-president of CCTF; Zhao Donghua, vice-president and member of the Secretariat of the secretary and vice-president of CCTF; Wang Naikun, director of China Foundation for the Disabled; Liao Hong, Party secretary and president of People.cn; Xu Jianzhong, deputy-director of the Ministry of Civil Affairs Social Welfare and Charity Promotion Division; and artist couple Xie Fang and Zhang Mu, as well as organizers of the event, relevant units and personal representatives, representatives from cultural and sports fields and representatives of families and children.
The event marks the 34th anniversary of the fund. China Children's Charity Day is an annual charity ceremony organized by CCTF, and has become an important platform to foster philanthropic culture, encourage social cohesion and strengthen support for children's issues. The event is organized to increase awareness of the problems faced by children growing up, to help them develop better and have a brighter future.
