With support from Wuhu Yanye Real Estate Development Co., Jinghu Women's Federation officially launched charity event called "Heng'ai Action" to help underprivileged children from northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, at a ceremony held in Jinghu District, Wuhu City, east China's Anhui Province, on November 1.

Heng'ai Action, established in 2005 by the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), the China Children and Teenagers' Fund (CCTF) and the Hengyuanxiang Group, is a knitting campaign designed to provide warm winter clothing to impoverished children across the country, many of whom are forced to face the long, cold winter still wearing their light summer clothing.

The initiative calls on members of the public, through the women's federations and foundations in various regions, to knit sweaters for children, especially those who are disabled or orphaned. So far, more than 600,000 children have received home-knitted sweaters from loving parents in more than 30 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions.

The latest event in Jinghu aimed to organize local charity-minded individuals and enterprises to contribute their efforts to the improvement of the life of poverty-stricken children from the northwestern autonomous region.

At the launch ceremony, 50 women brought their handmade sweaters for donation to target children.

In addition, the event was also designed to help local volunteers increase their participation in charitable projects, raise their competence in relevant programs, and promote the employment of local women.
