The China Children and Teenagers' Foundation (CCTF) launched a public welfare program, "HELLO Kids", in Beijing on November 26.

According to the general arrangement of the "HELLO Kids" initiative, the "Package of Love" concept was put forward in 2015, offering daily necessities and learning supplies to impoverished children who have suffered from unexpected accidents or disasters.

There are 18 different kinds of daily necessities and post-disaster epidemic prevention can be added onto the basic emergency package. The market price of the two Packages of Love is 260 yuan (U.S. $41) and 380 yuan (U.S. $59) respectively, and the standard donation is 200 yuan (U.S. $31) and 300 yuan (U.S. $47) respectively. Different donation channels have been established in post offices, banks, via WeChat (a messaging and calling app) and via Alipay (a third-party online payment solution) during the program. After the CCTF gives their verification, donors, whether individuals or companies, can choose their donation targets.

The first "HELLO Kids" Packages of Love were focused on Hunan and Gansu provinces, as well as Tianjin Municipality, around the time of the New Year's Day and the Spring Festival.

As CCTF has introduced, there are currently 61 million "left-behind" children (those whose parents have left their homes to find better paying jobs in cities), 35 million migrant children and 40 million children living in the most impoverished areas. Meanwhile, due to the focus on examination-oriented education, the significance of culture is diminishing in personal development, instead of being used as an aid to impart valuable knowledge and skills to children. To some extent, the traditional model of education hinders children's nature and brings about adverse effects to their health and all-round development.

The famous actor, Lin Yongjian along with his wife Zhou Dongqi and their son, has been helping to promote public welfare and, as such, both hold the posts of honorary ambassadors. At the launch ceremony, the couple said they would fully support the launch of the public program with their son.

A student representative from a Beijing primary school not only donated pocket money, but also wrote a song, "Hello", to express friendship and good wishes to other children of the same age.

At the ceremony, Amyway Corporation, ZTE Corporation and Shenzhen Gold Information Group each donated 1,000,000RMB to the program. Students at Huangzhuang School in Shijingshan District whose parents are migrant workers also received a "HELLO Kids" Package of Love.
