The China Children and Teenagers' Foundation (CCTF) and Beijing Kangput Culture Development Co., Ltd. jointly held a press conference in Beijing on January 28 to mark the official debut of a Chinese documentary entitled Fascinating China at the UN headquarters in New York.
The newly released documentary, which was produced by Beijing Kangput Culture Development Co., Ltd. with authorization from China's National Publication Foundation Management Office, aims to protect and publicize the 55 Chinese ethnic minorities' intangible cultural heritage, including their representative cultures, customs and beliefs, and showcase humanistic images of these ethnic groups as well as demonstrate the growth of the diverse cultures cultivated by ethnic minorities.
More specifically, the documentary is composed of three sections, each of which includes 20 30-minute episodes with subtitles in both Chinese and English.
It is the first ever domestic documentary which has made a comprehensive representation of the diverse cultures and customs nourished by Chinese ethnic minorities with an emphasis upon their languages and intangible cultural heritage.
The film is expected to help the international community learn more about Chinese ethnic minorities, further enlarge the overseas market for relevant cultural films, and build up a positive image of China in the eyes of foreigners across the world.
In his speech at the press conference, Secretary-General of the CCTF Zhu Xisheng highlighted the importance of promoting traditional Chinese culture amongst children and its impact upon the elevation of China's soft power in the international community. He pledged that his organization would provide the documentary with huge assistance in its debut at the UN.
According to an agreement between the two organizations, the CCTF is responsible for the documentary's publicity across the globe via multiple charity events and cultural exchanges in 2016-2018 on behalf of Beijing Kangput Culture Development Co., Ltd.
Those present at the press conference included Bao Yin, chief consultant of the documentary's editorial committee and Zhang Xiaoqing, general-manager of Beijing Kangput Culture Development Co., Ltd.
