China Milk Fund Established

 

On July 28, 2008, a fund to provide milk to underprivileged children, directly translated as the "China Milk Loving-Heart Fund,"was officially established in Beijing. This fund was set up by CCTF, Mengniu Group, and other members of "China Milk Loving-Heart Action."The funds were mainly donated by Mengniu Group, but some were collected through charitable activities. This fund is intended to boost the physical health of China's children by providing them with a nutritious staple that is oftentimes too expensive for rural families to afford.

Gu Xiulian, the president of All-China Women's Federation and CCTF, Yang Wenjun, the director of Mengniu Group, Chinese billiards star Ding Junhui, and NBA star Vladimir Stepania took part in the opening ceremony. Children benefitting from this program played the violin for the event in order to express their gratitude.

Milk is one of the most vital foods for a child's physical and mental health; in April 2006, China's prime minister Wen Jiabao expressed his dream that "every Chinese child [could] drink one kilo of milk everyday."Following this, the "China Milk Loving-Heart Fund"started in June 2008.

CCTF hopes that there will be more loving-heart company and people to join the "China Milk Loving-Heart Fund"to contribute to Chinese children's future.

The director of Mengniu Group said that they will provide continuing support to this project and that it is an honor for them to help strengthen China's future.
