Established by China Children and Teenagers' Fund, “Let Me Play” is a social welfare project 5 years in the making which focuses giving urban migrant young teenagers a place to enjoy sports.
The “Let Me Play” program has made a difference in the lives of 150,000 migrant teenagers from 280 schools in 8 different provinces by allowing them to have a place to build their self-confidence in through playing sports and games.

Initiate the Charity Project, Aid the Migrant Teenagers
With the acceleration of industrialization and urbanization, more and more surplus rural labor drifted into cities, making the migrant children a large population. Influenced by social and economic conditions, migrant teenagers are in sore need of help and care since they are more likely to face challenges such as lack of confidence and opportunities, and have trouble with interpersonal communications.
In order to train migrant teenagers with essential life skills and improve their social adaptation, in conjunction with the world famous sporting-goods company Nike Sports (China) Co Ltd, China Children and Teenagers' Fund launched a project targeting urban migrant teenagers.
“Let Me Play” is a project that utilizes sports as a means to assist migrant children’s physical and psychological growth. This is accomplised through sports facility donation, organized basketball games and sporting events, volunteer and teacher training, etc.
Since it was launched in 2006, there has been about 450 thousands migrant teenagers from more than 400 schools from 10 cities participating in the project and benefiting from it. Over 900 physical education teachers received 40 hours of training; more than 150 thousand teenagers have benefited from the project directly and indirectly. Since 2008, about 1,120 sports activities and competitions have been held in 10 cities every year and more than 500 college students have served as volunteers at these events.

Excellent Planning and Unanimous Recognition
Taking migrant teenagers, one of the major concerns of society, as the funding target, the project “Let Me Play” takes children’s favorite sports as the entry point and uses the own advantages of Nike Company as the support. What’s more, with the assistance of the diversified social network from Women’s Federation the project has been carried out efficiently and effectively, which have exerted a profound and great influence on society.

Improve one’s physical health and help to gain the Confidence and Happiness
Through “Let Me Play”, migrant teenagers from various cities have obtained numerous training and healthy emotional growth. It is from sports that they make their body physically strong and gain the confidence and happiness to enjoy the bright childhood that all children deserve.
As the 2009-2010 assessment report of the project “Let Me Play” illustrated, 94.49% teachers said that children’ s ability to help each other and co-operation have been improved greatly. About 95.52% students consider their classmates as more unified. About 96.85% think that their children are no longer as timid as they used to.

Care for Migrant Teen-agers and Do More
Nike Sports (China) Co Ltd has donated about 23.33 million RMB worth in sports equipments, and a total of 33 million RMB in all since the program started in 2006.
To enable more migrant teenagers to feel the love of society and grow up happily and healthily, CCTF and Nike Sports (China) Co Ltd work together to map out the development goals and objective for the 2010-2013 plan of “Let Me Play” charity project in accordance with the increasing number of people who want to donate to charity. “Let Me Play ”provides direct investments to more than 10 cities in China every year, organize about 200,000 teenagers around age of 9-15 from at least 300 schools where migrant teenagers are concentrated to take part in team sports training like football games or basketball games and league matches and offer training for PE teachers. It creates a demonstrative and practical platform for the development of teenagers, and build project bases for “Let Me Play” in schools which have participated the project for more than 2 years to set examples. Lastly, “Let Me Play” plans to spread to non-project schools and communities nearby so as to influence and help more children grow up healthily through participation in sports.
