In the past 20 years, the Project has raised more than 800 million Yuan and funded the construction of more than 800 schools, providing education opportunities for more than 1.8 million poverty-stricken girls and vocational training for more than 400,000 girls. After the May-12th Wenchuan earthquake, the Project established 54 Spring Bud schools for the affected populations and supported 1315 disabled children. |

The 20th anniversary meeting of the Spring Bud Project was held in the Great Hall of the People on May 31, 2009.
The conference, sponsored by the All-China Women's Federation, aimed to review the achievements the Spring Bud Project has made in the past 20 years, thereby clarifying the direction for the development of Project. The meeting also announced and recognized outstanding models of the Project, encouraged the mobilization of social forces to continue to support the Project, and promoted China’s Philanthropy for children. |

Ms. Chen Zhili, President of All-China Women's Federation, indicated that the Project, launched by China Children and Teenagers’ Fund in 1989 and supervised by the All-China Women's Federation, has helped girls in poverty-stricken areas of China to return to school in the past 20 years. She emphasized that in the coming years, the Project will help girls from underprivileged families to complete the compulsory education and continue high school education; to provide a living allowance for them; to provide vocational training for the girls who are preparing to enter the workforce; and to build kindergarten and student dormitories in poor rural areas of China. |

China’s Philanthropy for children — to take the 20th anniversary of the Project as an opportunity to promote the innovation and development of China’s Philanthropy for children, raise public awareness of charitable organizations, promote the development of China’s Philanthropy for children, establish a good feedback mechanism, reflect upon past experiences, both successes and failures, and expand social welfare effects of the Project via mass media. |

At the meeting, All-China Women’s Federation recognized and awarded 41 organizations and companies, including China Petrochemical Corporation, and 12 individuals, such as Jennifer Chow, the recipient of the “China Children Charity Prize.” |

In addition, China Children and Teenagers’ Fund will work vigorously to help more girls to have better lives. The priority is given to |
| schooling, to give financial help and material support; |
| education, to help more girls to complete high school studying and pursue university; |
|
training, to help the young girls obtain some vocational skills to have more opportunities of employment; |
| Left-behind children, a particular group of children in rural areas. |
