China Children & Teenagers' Fund (CCTF)
We are calling upon your support for the children who suffered the May 12th deadly 8.0-magnitude earthquake in WenChuan, SiChuan province, China.

At present, the death toll has risen to 28,881 while 198,347 people were injured. Thousands of school buildings were destroyed in the devastating earthquake according to the Information Office of the State Council Statement, dated May 18th. Thousands of children, were injured, lost their parents, homes and cannot get food, water, clothes, and other daily needs.

CCTF is focusing on long term development to restoring schools and orphanages. We desperately need funds to bring hope for the children in the affected areas.

CCTF’s efforts complement the work of other agencies focused on short term shelter, medical and food relief.

CCTF has established a “Post Earthquake Relief and Reconstruction Fund (FERRF) for Sichuan, China”. As the first Chinese independent tax exempt charitable organization that deals with youth welfare issues nationally, CCTF is highly respected around the world.

At this time we are putting our resources toward the most pressing needs of the children who are victims of the earthquake. The huge number of children in need of medical care and aid is incalculable at the moment. However, the need is great. The funds will attend to the immediate needs of the Children devastated by the earthquake and help to rebuild schools and orphanages.

Where the funds will be used:

The funds will be used in the following areas:

  1. 1.Emergency relief for the children.
  2. 2.Care for orphaned and injured children.
  3. 3.Post disaster psychological intervention for children.
  4. 4.Building children villages for orphanages.
  5. 5.Reconstruction of schools and kindergartens in the disaster area.

CCTF’s Financial accountability

CCTF China was established in 1981 as an independent non-profit voluntary association entirely funded from private and corporate donations. CCTF operates under the governance of the All-China Women's Federation and the supervision of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the PRC. CCTF is a strong organization capable of delivering projects on the ground in China. With funds of £8.7 in 2007 (mainly from fundraising in China) and spend over £6 million on projects. CCTF is an efficient and well managed charity with only 4% of total funds used in for operating costs.

CCTF follows stringent standards of governance in managing its funds. The financial accounts are audited by independent auditor, Ernst & Young within China and Kingston Smith in UK. Kingston Smith is best known as a specialist in charity auditor in UK.

FAQ

May I have a receipt for my donation?
Yes. You will need to send us an email with the date of your gift, the amount, the fund it went to, and your name and contact information. Please allow us 4-5 weeks to process.

May I cancel a donation?
No. We cannot cancel a donation at the moment. You can check on our website for an update on this option.

Can I dedicate where I want my donation to go?
Once we have full information about the damage and reconstructive plan we should be able to provide project information for targeted donation? Please check our website for a further update. You will need to have ready the date of your gift, the amount, the fund it went to and the fund you would like it to go to in the future.

May I dedicate my donation to someone or make a donation on behalf of a person?
Yes. You can make your donation a "tribute" to someone—in their honor or in memory of a lost loved one. This information is entered in the Honor/Memorial Donation section. CCTF will mail a Tribute card to your recipient announcing that an Honor or Memorial donation was made by you. You will also receive a card acknowledging your gift. You will need to have your recipient name, title and contact details ready.

I would like to donate clothes, cars or other items to charity. Does CCTF accept in-kind donations?
CCTF does not accept or solicit small, individual donations of items for emergency relief purposes at present.
