First Group of Children from Sichuan Disaster Areas Going to Yunnan for Fosterage
According to the status quo of the disaster areas which are not suitable for children’s healthy life, Song Liying, the secretary-general of CCTF and Ling Feng, the Commissioner of CPPCC and the director of Nerosurgery Dept.in Xuan Wu Hospital under Capital Medical University flew from Sichuan to Yunnan Lijiang Minority Orphans’ School with 41 children from Sichuan disaster areas.
It is known that these children will be living and studying there temporarily for a year.During that period, their family members can pick them up at any time as soon as they have made sure about the situation of their relatives and homes. They all come from heavily striken areas such as Hongbai Town of Shifan, Yinghua Town, Luoshui and Bajiao of Sichuan, with only one parent or none. CCTF will make careful choice and confirmation about the temporarily fostered children, make overall registration, manage the archives strictly and follow up with the assistance of Women’s Union of Shifang, Sichuan.Beijing Xuan Wu Hosptal has sent out medical personnels to make overall physical exams for these children. And psychology experts have done some psychological treatments for them for the first time after the disaster. During the temporary forsterage, all the expense for these children’s life and study will be provided by “the Relieving Fund for Minority Orphans”.
“The Relieving Fund for Minority Orphans” was sponsored by Ling Feng, the world famous nerosurgey expert, Commissioner of CPPCC and the director of Nerosurgery Dept.in Xuan Wu Hospital under Capital Medical University.It was co-established by CCTF and Yunnan Lijiang Minority Orphan’ School, with the aim of helping orphans from poverty-stricken and minority areas to receive good education. The emphases of their work is to bring up and teach minority orphans, to establish an orphans’ school in minority areas focused on fosterage and education, that is, a school like home and a home like school.
In order to make them happy for the coming children’s festival, Green Group Co. Ltd. in Fujian Province has donated 428 sets of clothes and shoes for the children in Yunnan Lijiang Minority Orphans’ School and bought schoolbags and stationery. Beijing Wang Ku Hu Tong Information Technology Co. Ltd. also expressed their wish to provide study supplies for these children.
After they enter the school, CCTF will invite psychology experts to continue making after-disaster psychological treatments for them. We believe they will grow up heathily with the help and care from all classes of the society.
